Our small agency is dependent on grants to fund our large equipment purchases. We are always searching for grants.
We applied for another new ambulance to replace our Ambulance B. WE WERE AWARDED THIS GRANT! The new ambulance is scheduled to be here in 2023. This was an ARPA Grant hosted by the Idaho EMS Bureau.
Even though we recently received a new ambulance, we were hopeful to be awarded this grant again. We showed a great need with the vehicle condition, age and our call volume increase. Our Ambulance B was on a tow truck a couple times last year. We can’t have ambulances on tow trucks. We are more than thankful to be awarded this grant again.
This grant is like many of our other grants. The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare allows for yearly grant applications. This grant cycle we applied for an Automated CPR Device. This device will be a game changer for our cardiac arrest calls. The device performs adequate chest compressions on the patient so the provider can tend to the patient in other ways; including IVs, applying AED pads, applying Cardiac Leads, medication administration and placing Advanced Airways. Game changer for our staff who are expected to maintain all of this and preform adequate chest compressions all the way to McCall or Syringa Hospital, sometimes alone.
Our Fire Station needed new paint on the outside. If you drove by last year, you could easily see the building and garage doors need a fresh coat of paint. Our station was painted and looks amazing! Thanks to the Stibnite Foundation.
This grant program is funded from Fire Fighter license plates you see on Idaho vehicles. Their focus is on fire safety and education. We applied for a new TV for our classroom. We will be using this TV for multiple educational classes to keep us and the community safe.
Keep training and keep learning until you get it right. We love training, to be prepared for you. 🫵
We were awarded a grant to host a 3 day extrication course. Riggins City Fire, Salmon River Rural Fire, White Bird City Fire, and Riggins Ambulance will be attending. Thankful for this fully funded course. We all need refreshers on extrication safety and technique. We will post pictures after the event!
Welcome to the Stryker Power-LOAD!
Being an EMS worker is a demanding job, both physically and emotionally. The repetition of loading and unloading cots in and out of an ambulance day after day can take its toll on the body. 1 in 4 EMS workers will suffer a career ending back injury within their first four years in the field….The number one cause – Lifting.
Our Power Load system improves operator and patient safety by supporting the cot throughout the loading and unloading process. It lifts and lowers the cot in and out of the ambulance, reducing the risk of cumulative trauma injuries.
Here are some of the benefits and features of the Power Load:
-Eliminates the need to steer the cot into and out of the ambulance.
-Minimizes patient drops by supporting the cot until the wheels are on the ground.
-Meets SAE J3027 dynamic crash test safety standards.
-Features an easy-to-use manual back-up system, allowing complete operation in the event of power loss.
-Lifts or lowers the cot in and out of the ambulance, eliminating spinal loads that can result in cumulative trauma injuries.
This Power Load was installed in our brand new ambulance. This was the final touch to this vehicle project serving the Salmon River Canyon.
In June of 2020 we were excited to announce a new ambulance started serving our Salmon River Canyon! After a year of planning and grant writing, we have a 2021 Ford F-350 built by Demers Ambulances and Apgar Ambulances hitting the streets. This thing is top notch! Our main goal was to improve patient care and crew safety.
Some upgrades this particular vehicle has includes-
A much smoother and safer suspension.
Major exterior lighting improvements.
Seatbelts for our providers.
Reliability.
Secure and organized cabinets for our equipment.
More room in the patient care area.
An integrated child seat.

In 2018 we were awarded a grant to replace 5 of our old radios. Communications is a vital part of our service. Thankful we had the ability to replace our older radios.
